Welcome to Police Law Newsletter

This is the place where we break down the most important issues in policing.

Debunking the constant dishonest narratives from anti-police activists is hard (but important) work and we appreciate your support!

The Official Newsletter from Police.Law.News

Oddly enough this content (Police.Law.News) started as short Tik Tok videos breaking down police use of force incidents and covering interesting police news stories. That channel grew to 140k+ followers before it was banned by Tik Tok (new channel is Officer.Involved). That evolved into an invitation to do a live weekly show on a popular (450k+ subs) YouTube channel (CopWatch TV) - the show is on Fridays at 12pm/Mountain.

However, many of the topics that we cover are simply not able to be fairly examined in a one minute video - with a character count for comments. So, we decided that Substack was the perfect platform to expand our brand of honest case breakdowns of raw police activity.

The Goal

The goal of this newsletter is not to take a blindly pro-police or vehemently anti-police position. Neither side of that boring “all or nothing” debate is enlightened, authentic, or interesting. The goal of this newsletter is to honestly examine and question police use of force incidents, police policy, law, culture and how they all mix together to create the most riveting topics of discussion.

In short, we can simultaneously hold (and defend) the positions that police officers who commit crimes should be prosecuted and also that the modern day police are not systematically racist.

Please subscribe, comment, and participate as a portion of our content will be answering questions and/or investigating cases and issues that our subscribers request.

We also offer a paid subscription for additional interesting content.

When controversial police incidents emerge we often drop everything to dive into and debunk dishonest narratives from grifters like Ben Crump and his army of anti-police activists. These are the types of articles available to paid subscribers.

Paid subscribers will have access to additional content on current issues in policing. This will include a mix of journalism, videos, Q & A, debunking the mainstream media attacks on police, as well as initial reporting and opinion on controversial police incidents that have the ability to shape our culture, destroy our cities, and effect policing in 2024. Also, some podcast versions of articles and access to the entire archive.

Please consider supporting this work.

About The Author

My favorite trail running partner - Miss Cleo.

I retired in January 2024 after nearly two decades of service with the Albuquerque Police Department (APD). During my career I worked approximately a decade on patrol, over four years in the DWI (driving while intoxicated) Unit, and just over four years as a detective in both the Internal Affairs Force Division and the Compliance Bureau. Half way through my career APD entered into a DOJ Consent Decree and working in that environment gave me a unique perspective on the inefficient bureaucracy of “progress” and how it often leaves communities more dangerous and police officers demoralized.

While working the cop job, I earned a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, a Law Degree (J.D.), as well as completed an internship with the New Mexico Department of Justice (with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit).

I run half-marathon trail races and come up with most of my content ideas and work through “steel man arguments” during long evening trail runs. I have coached my sons’ baseball and basketball teams and my wife and I have two huge Great Pyrenees rescue pups (Miss Cleo and Big Otto).

I have also been featured on the popular Law Enforcement Today Radio Show and podcasts such as Courageous Leadership, Failure to Stop, and On Being a Police Officer.

However, most importantly, I truly find this material fascinating and am actively seeking a space where these issues can be discussed openly and where honest debate is embraced.

Join me there.
