The Charlotte Tape
The “Secret Service” Standard
1. The Charlotte Tape
A short cellphone video featuring Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers arresting a woman has gone viral.
The video was recorded by a witness and conveniently does not contain any context and does not depict what led to the use of force.
In the video several police officers are attempting to arrest/handcuff a woman and - as she actively resists arrest - an officer “punches” her multiple times.
If you know nothing about police work and find this disturbing - that may be a reasonable initial reaction. However, if you have zero police experience or education - it is always a good idea to ask questions instead of reflexively flying into a rage.
So, police officers are trained to use “distraction strikes”.
These strikes are utilized when individuals are resisting arrest.
Officers aim for large muscle groups and avoid the head, neck, and groin as “target areas”.
The force is supposed to stop as soon as the individual is in handcuffs, under control, and/or no longer a threat.
This type of force is not pretty and does not ever “look good”.
The intent behind this utilization of force is to use temporary pain compliance to briefly “distract” an individual - so that other officers can quickly get them into handcuffs.
The logic is that the quicker an individual is under control - the less likely that higher levels of force will be utilized later.
Ben Crump shared this short video clip and demanded “justice”.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings - held a press conference explained that he understood that the video did “not look good” and provided some context. Chief Jennings stated that:
The woman was under arrest.
A male with her was armed with a gun.
The woman punched an officer in the face prior to the use of force.
The woman resisted arrest.
The officer “punched” (distraction strike) the woman’s thighs - which is a designated and trained “target area”.
Chief Jennings stated that he was working to have the police body camera footage released quickly and asked that the public wait until the investigation is complete to make a final judgement.
Ben Crump on the other hand encouraged people to jump to conclusions and assign the worst possible intentions to police officers.
That right there is the difference between a leader and a grifter.
The short video without context and a cryptic message demanding “justice” is an important part of Ben Crump’s scripted grift. Lie. Riot. Extort.
Police Chief Jennings appears to be prepared with his early press conference and honest public statements. Ben Crump may have met his match.
2. The “Secret Service” Standard
A Secret Service Agent on a protection detail for Naomi Biden (Hunter Biden’s 29 year-old daughter) was involved in a shooting last week in Washington DC.
The Agent reported that he observed three individuals trying to break into a government vehicle. The Agent fired a single shot and the offenders fled the scene. No one was struck by the gunfire.
Now, typically police officers can only utilize deadly force to protect life from an imminent deadly threat. Three assholes breaking into a car is frustrating but not life-threatening.
Let me be clear - I have zero sympathy for thieves.
The frustration is that if this were a city cop:
They would undoubtedly be fired and prosecuted.
BLM would be rioting.
The predictable cadre of race-hustling lawyers would be swarming.
But, Since it was a Federal Agent that was protecting a member of the political elite - it will soon be forgotten.
This is now dubbed the “Secret Service” standard - where police are allowed to shoot criminals because the they ‘might’ break into a car and take a weapon.
The sick irony is that we have cases where people were literally pointing guns at police - as police utilized deadly force (Amir Locke, Stephen Perkins, Breonna Taylor, etc…) and there are riots and violence over those cases.
*In case I was not clear. The Secret Service Agent is not the bad guy in this case. I’m good with his actions. I have zero sympathy for thieves. I am simply asking to - apply this standard to all police officers.
I agree 100% that the Officer acting with reasonable force to achieve compliance from the suspect! The Officer acted within his training!
It seems these activists like Ben Crump, are in absolute defense of criminal behavior; and further advocate that this behavior should be ignored!!
This totally disgusts me!!
Why are we allowing our Officers to be constantly persecuted for doing their job???!!! This is leading us into lawless Anarchy!!!
I fail to understand how someone like Ben Crump got a law license to begin with, simply proof that even a low IQ moron can pass the bar, and testament to the fact that apparently the legal establishment doesn't hold their members to any type of ethical level at all.
I'm not certain that Crump has ever actually tried a case in court, rather he uses that time between when an incident occurs and when actual information regarding the incident or the investigation is released to paint a picture to the easily led masses of what he says occurred in a video like this. He took this directly from Al Sharpton's Tawana Brawley incident, creating his own facts and filling the minds of the people with lies and rhetoric to the point that when the truth actually comes out, they don't believe it. As evidence, there are still people today who believe that regarding Miss Taylor , that police went to the wrong house. I mean, even though the search warrant for her residence has been released publicly people still believe what Ben Crump told them over what they can see with their own eyes.
Crump and those like him are a pariah and a slap in the face to lawyers who actually go to law school with the intention of doing something honorable. People like him and Lee Merrit need to be censored and have their licenses yanked. The only thing Ben Crump cares about is his 33 and a third plus cost and he doesn't care who he maligns, who he liables or slanders or who is hurt by his b*******.
