1. She’s just awful
On January 17, 2024 in New York City Sahara Dula was driving the wrong way on the street. She stopped her vehicle and an NYPD officer exited his vehicle, approached her car, and tried to stop her.
Dula accelerated and deliberately crashed into the officer. The officer suffered a broken leg.
Dula made the following statement, “I told the cop I wanted to go straight, and he wouldn’t move, so I hit him. I did it on purpose”. “F–k these cops! He wouldn’t move!” F–k these cops, it’s a lesson to him, and hopefully he doesn’t want to be a cop anymore.”
Dula is facing multiple felonies.
She’s just awful.
2. Davis Dimas OIS
There was an OIS in Mesa, AZ that involved a man named David Dimas.
This started as a DV call and it was reported that Dimas had locked himself inside of a shed, started setting a fire inside the shed - as well as being armed with a knife and harming himself.
Officers deployed with a “force array” that consisted of lethal and less lethal force options.
Dimas exited the shed and approached officers with his hands concealed underneath clothing. He then raised his concealed hands quickly and took a “shooting stance”.
Officers responded by deploying a Taser and a beanbag shotgun. At the same time another officer fired his duty weapon.
Dimas had been holding a cordless drill - that resembled a handgun when underneath the clothing.
The question being asked is why the officer utilized lethal force before seeing if the less lethal options were successful.
The OIS is objectively reasonable - as the officer who fired his weapon had a reason to believe that Dimas was pointing a gun at officers. The actions of the less lethal deploying officers are a moot factor.

3. Carter Edelman OIS
Deputies in Weber County, UT were dispatched to a possible drunk driver on New Years Eve. The caller also stated that there were three minors in the vehicle with the impaired driver.
Deputies located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The driver (Carter Edelman) refused to stop and fled from police. Officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit.
During the pursuit Edelman crashed into two police vehicles and reached speeds nearing 100 mph.
At one point Edelman nearly crashed into an officer - that had exited his vehicle. The officer responded by shooting at Edelman’s vehicle - as it drove away. Thankfully the rounds fired did not strike Edelman or the vehicle’s passenger.
This OIS was not objectively reasonable. As there no immediate danger to the officer and there was a high level of danger for the victims. I expect the officer to be terminated and possibly face reckless endangerment charges (think Brett Hankison).
4. In-N-Out is out in Oakland
The fast food chain In-N-Out Burger is reportedly closing up shop in Oakland. The store cited the closure not over a lack of business but due to out of control crime.
A business has a duty to its employees and customers to provide a safe environment. The fact that In-N-Out cannot provide a safe location to enjoy a tasty burger - should be staggering to the people who are truly responsible for safety in a city - the elected leaders.
But- city leaders in Oakland are optimistically permitting the chaos - instead of fixing it.
When a municipality refuses to repair the “Broken Windows” - these obvious signs of social decay will further extend the existence of disorder. At some point the systematic dysfunction is no longer a symptom of bad policy but the only logical single outgrowth.

By reading only the information you provided on the Edelman OIS, how is the ofcr not justified to fire on a suspect who’s behavior, possibly intentional but at the very least reckless, threatened immediate death/ serious bodily injury to the ofcr? And whose behavior prior to that incident with the involved ofcr, demonstrated a depraved indifference. Allowing the suspect to continue on would most certainly be a threat to the safety of others / ofcrs. - not to mention the other passengers within the defendants vehicle. Set me straight on this one.
