1. The Patrick Lyoya of New Mexico
On August 2, 2022 Presley Eze was shot and killed by a police officer in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Last week New Mexico Attorney General (Raul Torres) charged Officer Brad Lunsford with voluntary manslaughter.
*This case will be the featured in our flagship series “Officer Involved” this weekend - where we breakdown in detail a controversial Officer-Involved-Shooting.
But, for some basic information - Mr. Eze was accused of shoplifting and a gas station attendant called for police assistance. Police responded and made contact with Mr. Eze. Mr. Eze resisted arrest and fought with police officers. Mr. Eze grabbed an officer’s Taser (that had fallen on the ground during the struggle). Officer Lunsford fired one shot at Mr. Eze - striking him in the back of his head - killing him.
Over a year passed before charges were filed against the involved officer.
Once and for all - police, use of force trainers/experts, prosecutors, and citizens need to get on the same page. Should a police officer view a Taser as a deadly weapon - if an offender attempts to use it against them?
Both the Patrick Lyoya case and this case revolve around that crucial issue.
Because, as it stands, police officers are being prosecuted for following their state delivered and mandated training.

2. Zero bail in LA County
A controversial zero-bail policy is now in effect in Los Angeles County. This ends the years-long standard of setting cash bail amounts for defendants in accordance with the severity of the crime that they are charged with.
The new policy eliminates the existing cash bail system for all but the most serious of crimes.
Those for “zero” bail claim that no one who is accused of criminal charges should be held in jail for months until trial - simply because they cannot pay bail. They claim that this is criminalizing poverty. They claim that having money should not be deciding factor in whether or not a person is free or incarcerated. They claim that this benefits rich white criminal defendants at the expense of poor black defendants.
This is a compelling argument (aside from the woke race-baiting nonsense). The vast majority of people do not want to see the status of being poor turned into a de-facto criminal offense.
Criminal justice conservatives want crime and aberrant behavior to be punished - not income level.
Those who oppose “zero” bail claim that this will lead to an even bigger swinging “revolving door” of criminals - who are arrested, released, arrested, released, time after time. The idea that if you commit a crime that you have to pay something to be released and if the conditions of release are not met (ie, picking up another charge) - then that money is forfeited to the court. So, this is not about punishing poverty - but adding an incentive for people charged with crimes to not re-offend.
This is also a compelling argument. “Soft on crime” policies have made cities less safe and lowered the quality of life for everyone in a community.
We have all heard the stories of a person arrested dozens of times and that they have no fear of jail - as they know that they will not be held.
3. Terror in Israel
Here are some of my thoughts.
There is a vast moral difference between Israel and Palestine.
If Israel got their way - they would live peacefully next to their neighbors in Palestine.
If Palestine got their way - Israel would cease to exist.
Human shields.
Hamas fighters use civilian human shields.
Israel is deterred by the civilian human shields.
This says something about both Hamas and Israel - as Hamas knows that Israel is decent enough to at least pause - when they are faced with human shields.
If the roles were reversed - Hamas would not pause for a second to kill Israeli civilians. In fact, they would prefer it.
If your “god” and holy texts encourage peace - that is a net positive for the world.
If your “god” and holy texts encourage violence and terrorist - that is a net negative for the world.
Anyone calling for a ceasefire is a terrorist sympathizer.
4. BLM supports terrorism
The group Black Lives Matter (BLM) is exactly who we thought they were. In the days after the Hamas attacks on Israel - multiple chapters of BLM expressed their support on Twitter for Palestine and and the attacks by Hamas.
Is it any surprise that the same people who were encouraging domestic terrorism during the riots of 2020 - are the same people encouraging terrorism in Israel?
BLM claims to care about “freedom” and “justice”. Well, Freedom and Justice are never achieved by slaughtering innocent civilians - no matter how much you dislike the color of their skin.
In case BLM ever grows a conscience or is ever forced to apologize for their actions over the last decade. I started a list of victims:
1. Decent citizens in cities that were destroyed.
2. Businesses in cities that were destroyed.
3. Police everywhere.
4. Donors that were scammed.
5. Donald Trump.
BLM is supporting the terrorism in Israel because they want to be able to do it here.
If you can justify killing civilians - setting fire to a Wendy’s does seem so bad.
